About Us

Bydand Muay Thai club, located in the Banks O Dee Gym, was founded in 2003 by Trevor Lawn.

Trevor has a strong background in martial arts including Wu Shu Kwan, Kung Fu and Savat French Kick Boxing.  However his passion lies in Muay Thai, which he has praticed now for over 23 years (teaching for 19 years).

Trevor's interest in martial arts has taken him to Thailand where he supported Tommy McCarthy with the Scottish Amateur team - this is when Trevor became an assistant instructor.

In terms of his own achievements, Trevor has competed in full contact Kick Boxing tournaments (1990-93) and Class B&C Muay Thai (2001 to date).

Bydand trains three times a week including; skills, full contact sparing and circuit training.  These three sessions provide the balance of skills, fitness and practical experience required to effectively and efficiently practice Muay Thai. However the Club also provides the focus and opportunity for those who wish to compete at interclubs (local Scottish club level) and amateur/semi-professional.  Further details can be found on the Competitions page.

The club welcomes beginners, as well as the more experienced.  Each class requires commitment, focus and respect, however we also pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere and ability to have fun.

If you have any queries about the club, please do not hesitate to contact Trevor.
